
Pyhäsalmi Mine is located in Pyhäjärvi in Northern Ostrobothnia. The underground mine operation and processing of copper and zinc concentrates ended in August 2022. Pyhäsalmi Mine was the deepest metal ore mine in Europe. After the completion of underground mining, we began producing a pyrite concentrate from material stored in the tailings area. Pyrite concentrate is used in the manufacture of fertilizers. Production of pyrite concentrate ended at the end of 2025. However, deliveries to customers are continuing.
Closure activities of the underground mine are ongoing.
Pyhäsalmi Mine Oy is owned by Canadian First Quantum Minerals Ltd.
